10 students, 1 teacher, 2 teacher’s aides, 1 chaplain and 2 YWAM staff headed off to Thailand last month for a missions trip. After lots of preparation and planning, we headed off to see what we could see! We stayed in Bangkok for 2 days for orientation and an introduction to Thai culture, then left on an 8 hour bus ride to Selaphum, in Northeast Thailand. We ran an English camp, a school program, worked on a farm for a bit, looked after children and visited a leprosy colony! It was awesome to see the students from Marrara really get into it, praying for the people from the leprosy colony and coming back from the farm covered in mud...
Overall, it was an awesome time for all of us and we’d love to go again!!!
On another note, Jen Sparks is back!!! She’s been away for about a year so it’s AWESOME to have her back! We’re stoked to have her back and so is she! She’ll be around and back on the Switch in no time.
Another thing happening at YWAM Darwin right now is ARMS, which stands for Australian Relief and Mercy Services. Jen Keatch is the director of ARMS up in our neck of the woods and she’s been pretty flat out with ARMS work lately. Her pigeon hole in the mailbox is stuffed with ARMS mail that needs to be worked on Jen does an incredible job here at YWAM Darwin, with being ARMS director and organising Mission Adventures. I reckon she’ll be a bit embarrassed that we’re making specific mention of her here, but she truly is incredible. Thanks Jen for all your work, we really appreciate it!
We’ve also had a ton of birthdays this past month, so happy birthday to everyone who’s had a recent birthday!!! We celebrated Mia Giltinan’s birthday last night in style, with formal-ish dress, dinner, song, dance and interpretive dance performances, swimming and a dance party! Photos coming soon...
It was an incredible night, and happy belated birthday Mia!!! We love you too.
