OUR TOP FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: 1. What is the weather like in Darwin? Here we have two seasons, wet and dry. The wet is extremely hot, humid and rainy (Nov-March) The dry is cooler and less humid (April-Oct) 2. How much luggage can I bring? As we are hoping to get into remote places as well as minister to “backpackers” we suggest a proper pack. If you cannot obtain one that is fine, just know you will have to carry all your own stuff. 3. How far away are the shops? We live a ten minutes walk from the city, which has everything you need. A shopping mall is a 10 minute bus ride away. There is a bus stop down the street from the base that comes every hour. 4. Do I have a choice which outreach I do? Outreach options (local and international) are given in the first 2-3 weeks of the DTS. You have the opportunity to pray about where you go. We do not always revisit the countries/cities of previous outreaches. 5. How much spending money will I need? To cover incidentals eg. postage, toiletries, sundry food, entertainment, photos etc we estimate about $20 - $50 per week. 6. What is accommodation like during the lecture phase? Currently we live in an old hostel that was built in the 70’s. Very similar to dorm living. 7. What type of work duties will I be doing? Duties range form house chores, cooking, cleaning, maintenance, gardening, painting, office work and other miscellaneous help on the base. 8. Can I bring a musical instrument? We don't have any musical instruments to loan students, however you are free to bring your own. Please be aware that this is done at your own risk. 9. Do we have to do assignments and study? Yes, you will have a weekly assessments and assignments to complete. Please bring coloured pencils/pens etc for being "creative" in your assessments. 10. What are the eating arrangements? Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided. There are no personal cooking facilities available. You have dietary needs ie: vegetarian, make sure you let us know.
